Form and character

About this project

This wrought driveway swing gate has a distinctive nature-inspired design. Carefully forged leaves and stylised climbing vines form an artistic botanical pattern woven into sturdy latticework. Decorative finials and forged details finish the top.

Every decorative component is hand-forged by skilled artistic blacksmiths. Traditional steelworking at the anvil and forge produces individual, carefully crafted details characteristic of handmade work.

The gate receives a two-stage protective treatment for long-term weather and corrosion resistance:

  • Hot-dip galvanising: The complete assembly is immersed in hot zinc, creating a continuous protective layer for comprehensive, long-term corrosion protection.
  • Powder coating: Powder paint is applied electrostatically after galvanising and cured in an oven. It provides an attractive, even colour and resistance to mechanical damage, UV radiation and the weather.

The gate is fitted to its supporting posts using expansion fixings, chemical anchors or metal anchors. Installation avoids on-site welding, helping prevent local corrosion and preserve the protective coating for stable, long-term use.
