Form and character

About this project

This double-leaf driveway gate combines classic blacksmithing with practical modern construction. A sturdy forged steel frame and natural timber panels create a durable, warm-looking entrance. Forged leaves and scrolls are integral to the rich ornamentation and reinforce its traditional character.

Each decorative component is hand-forged using traditional tools, including the anvil and forge. This precisely shapes the steel with the individual texture and strength of handcrafted work, giving the details their distinctive artistic quality.

The steel structure receives a two-stage finish for durability and weather resistance:

  • Hot-dip galvanising: The complete steel assembly is immersed in molten zinc at approximately 450°C. This creates tightly bonded zinc coatings for long-term corrosion protection, including in demanding environmental conditions.
  • Powder coating: After galvanising, powder paint is applied electrostatically and cured in an oven at high temperature. The even, smooth, durable finish resists scratching, UV radiation and chemical corrosion.

Material and craftsmanship

Construction details

Hand-forged steel

Certified weldable S235JR / C45 steel. Traditional forge forming and precise fitting of components.

Surface protection

Hot-dip galvanising (PN-EN ISO 1461, coating thickness 70–85 µm) plus electrostatically applied polyester powder coating in your chosen RAL colour.

Automation-ready design

Reinforced structural sections and pre-installed conduits for drive systems from leading brands (FAAC, Nice, Somfy).

Structural fixing

High-load chemical anchors. No welding on site preserves the intact galvanised coating.

What determines the price?

The price depends on the clear opening dimensions, material thickness and infill density, ground profile, opening mechanism and selected automation system.
