Form and character

About this project

This driveway swing gate combines traditional artistic blacksmithing with contemporary protective finishes. Its ornamental character, with numerous hand-forged scrolls and decorative details, complements classic residences and refined properties.

Each component is made by traditional hand forging. The metal is heated in a forge until workable, then shaped on an anvil using hammers and blacksmithing tools. This gives each detail individual character, strength and appearance.

Hot-dip galvanising is a key protective stage. The complete assembly is immersed in molten zinc at around 450°C, forming iron-zinc alloy layers and a pure zinc outer layer on the steel. This comprehensive corrosion protection extends the gate’s service life, including in demanding weather conditions.

After galvanising, the gate receives powder coating. Dry powder paint is applied electrostatically and cured at high temperature. The coating offers:

  • Mechanical resistance to scratches and impacts.
  • An even, attractive surface without runs.
  • Resistance to UV radiation and changing weather.
  • Straightforward cleaning.

The combined zinc and powder coating system supports lasting appearance and durability, including protection around welds and joints.

From concept to installation

Material and craftsmanship

Construction details

Hand-forged steel

Certified weldable S235JR / C45 steel. Traditional forge forming and precise fitting of components.

Surface protection

Hot-dip galvanising (PN-EN ISO 1461, coating thickness 70–85 µm) plus electrostatically applied polyester powder coating in your chosen RAL colour.

Automation-ready design

Reinforced structural sections and pre-installed conduits for drive systems from leading brands (FAAC, Nice, Somfy).

Structural fixing

High-load chemical anchors. No welding on site preserves the intact galvanised coating.
