Form and character

About this project

A reconstruction of a historic forged railing, based on original architectural designs from the Historicist period. The project combines conservation requirements with modern metal-protection techniques for period renovations and palace-style or classic settings.

Main construction and stylistic features:

  • Infill geometry: A classic diagonal diamond lattice adds structural stability and a regular visual rhythm.
  • Central cartouche: A 740 x 570 mm ornament with a hand-forged crown, symmetrical scrolls and organic acanthus leaves.
  • Three-dimensional shaping: Bowed sides project 380 mm and are finished with substantial flower rosettes 160 mm in diameter.
  • Top rail: A profiled handrail 50 mm high contributes to usability and structural rigidity.

Manufacture and craftsmanship:

Traditional artistic blacksmithing is used to hand-form and texture the ornaments. Carefully fitted components are joined by shielded-gas welding, then the welds are ground smooth to create a visually continuous structure.

Corrosion protection and finish:

Immersion hot-dip galvanising provides long-term outdoor protection, including hollow sections and assembly gaps. Powder coating in deep black is available in a matt or fine-textured finish. Optional hand-applied antique-gold, copper or silver patina highlights the sculptural details.

  4. Installation and fitting

Certified face or tread fixings with matching cover plates.

Material and craftsmanship

Construction details

Steel and hand forging

Solid bars and forged flat bars with high structural rigidity and a handcrafted appearance.

Corrosion protection

Hot-dip galvanising to ISO 1461 for outdoor railings, with a durable powder coating.

Comfortable handrails

Profiled forged handrails provide a secure grip and smooth curves at stair turns.

Durable fixings

Chemical or mechanical fixings suited to the substrate (concrete, timber or steel) and compliant with the relevant standards.

What determines the price?

The price depends on the length of the railing, the stair pitch, the complexity of the ornament and the fixing method (top-mounted or side-mounted).
